At Sawtooth Mountain Clinic (SMC), you will deliver excellent patient-centered care as part of a dedicated team of providers on the beautiful north shore of Lake Superior in Cook County, MN. The area is also known for its recreational resources, including the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Superior Hiking Trail. The SMC Behavioral Health team provides outpatient clinical therapy with a supportive working collaboration between 3 Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers, 5 Family Medicine Physicians with 3 Nurse Practitioners, and visiting specialties including a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

In addition to providing services on our main campus in Grand Marais, our providers also serve on the Grand Portage Reservation through a partnership with Grand Portage Health Services and Grand Portage Human Services. SMC has a Health Practitioner Shortage Area score of 16, and as an FQHC, our providers our eligible to apply for the National Health Service Corps loan repayment program.

Job Summary:
Provides psychological assessment, diagnosis and non-pharmacological treatment to patients of all ages with a wide range of mental health conditions in an integrated primary care setting. Works with the Chief Medical Officer and a health care team including MDs, NPs, RNs, and MAs. This role includes professional collaboration as well as independent responsibility and accountability in decision-making.
Job Qualifications:
1. Current Minnesota license as an LICSW, LMFT, LPCC
2. Master’s degree or higher in psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy
3. Minimum of two years’ direct patient care; experience in a primary care setting preferred
4. Team care model experience, patient-centered care philosophy
5. Proficient in use of computer software to document clinical care, and in use of Microsoft office applications
6. Knowledge of:
a. assessment, planning, implementation, and care coordination in mental health
b. standards for care/treatment plan development
c. patient rights principles
7. Skill in:
a. diagnosing patient conditions
b. interpreting findings from clinical evaluation and diagnostic tests
c. risk assessment and intervention
