Continuous Medicaid Eligibility for Children Up To Age 6

Starting January 1st, all children under age six (6) who qualify for Medical Assistance (Medicaid) will have up to 72 months of uninterrupted coverage.

This continuous eligibility was signed into law by Governor Walz in 2023. The new law extends eligibility for children until the last day of the month of their 6th birthday.

Another eligibility change effective January 1st gives qualified 19- and 20-year-olds ongoing Medical Assistance coverage for 12 months.
