Intimate partner violence (IPV), human trafficking (HT), and exploitation have a significant impact on the holistic health and well-being of victims/survivors. Domestic violence advocates and health care providers each have critical roles to play in the prevention of negative health outcomes for patients.
During this three-day training event, nationally renowned researcher, educator, advocate, and speaker Rebecca Levenson will offer specialized training to advocates and health care providers on how to leverage their unique positions to support the short- and long-term safety of victims/survivors.
The Health Care Provider Track will take place on Wednesday, January 10. Providers will learn:
• Healing-centered strategies for trauma-informed workplaces
• Physical and behavioral health problems associated with IPV, HT, and exploitation
• Benefits of partnering with local advocacy centers and promoting bi-directional referrals
• How to implement the evidence-based CUES intervention with patients
This training event will end with an optional, in-person only, collaborative training session for both domestic violence advocates and health care providers on Thursday, January 11. Attendees will have opportunities to build relationships, share resources and information, and practice delivering the content they learned in front of a supportive audience of their peers.
