Provide mental health services focusing on the treatment, prevention and awareness of opioid and other substance use as a member of a multidisciplinary health team.


  • Expand mental health services and substance use disorder services focusing on treatment, prevention and awareness of opioid and other substance use.
  • Provide mental health services utilizing Integrative Behavioral Health model including completing Diagnostic Assessments and brief interventions.
  • Seeks to understand and meet the needs of clients (patients, families, vendors, coworkers) through respectful, courteous and culturally sensitive interactions.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent model of prevention and intervention with people who use drugs based on relevant research and clinical experience.
  • Provide outreach, assessment, education, intervention, referral and limited case management to individuals and groups.
  • Take initiative in program goal setting, evaluation and problem-solving
  • Coordinate client care with mental health and social service staff to maximize successful outcomes.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy medical charts, encounter forms and tracking of patient activities.
  • Actively participates and works positively, flexibly and cooperatively in a team effort within and across departments to accomplish the goals of the organization.
  • Demonstrates effective, culturally sensitive communication skills and effectively communicates verbally and in writing with a variety of people.
  • Knows, understands and adheres to the organizational policy related to the patients rights for confidential care.


  • Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement activities
  • Develop cultural competency on a continuous basis to meet the needs of the patients in a culturally sensitive and effective manner
  • Perform other job duties as assigned


  • Does not supervise other staff
  • Works within the scope of the job description with general direction and consults others as needed

  • Understands and complies with universal precautions and right to know
  • Understand and complies with hazardous waste precautions/handling as appropriate

Working Environment

  • Work is performed at multiple MCC sites
  • Hours are flexible dependent on needs of clients, and federal mandate and programmatic changes

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Working knowledge of treatment, prevention and awareness of opioid use, people experiencing homelessness, and diverse communities and community resources
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team

Required education, experience and licensure

  • Minimum one year experience working with people who use drugs
  • Knowledge of substance use disorder treatments and harm reduction
  • Proof of COVID vaccination required, religious and medical exemption will be considered

Preferred education, experience and licensure:

  • Dual Licensure LACD
  • 2 years experience
