Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Community Advocate

We are on the search for a full-time Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Community Advocate to join our Crookston, MN team. In a Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Advocate role at CHSI, you would provide services to victims of domestic or sexual violence. These services may include:

  • Assist and coordinate with DV/SA Bilingual Advocates with advocacy, support, and intervention with clients/survivors.
  • Assist DV/SA Bilingual Advocates to coordinate emergency services, e.g., safe housing/relocation, translation, and crisis/emergency room cases.
  • Facilitate presentations on CHSI DV/SA advocacy services to community partners and participate in planning public awareness for community events, programs and fairs held annually.
  • Build relationships with community members to move towards an effective coordinated community response toward victim/survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
  • Participate in speaking engagements and networking with community agencies and individuals to promote CHSI DV/SA advocacy programs in Moorhead and Crookston, MN.
  • Assist in general office duties, answer calls, set up appointments, attend staff meetings and trainings.
  • Perform duties essential to the position and programs.


In addition to being a wonderful team member and advocate to clients, we are seeking an individual with the below qualifications:


  • Ability to bend and crouch occasionally, sit continuously, and stand or walk frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use hands/arms, feet/legs for repetitive fine to large motor skill movements.


  • High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent preferred. College or technical training is ideal.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Spanish language skills a huge plus.
  • A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and auto insurance.
  • Ability to work independently, but also collaborate with a team.
  • Willing to work flexible hours and travel when the need arises.
  • Sensitivity to and knowledge of issues facing victims of sexual and domestic violence.
  • Experience working with a wide range of ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
  • Knowledge and experience in general office procedures such as filing, computer skills, and strong verbal and written skills is preferred.
  • Knowledge of community and area resources is a plus.
