As a Dental Assistant with NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center, you’ll work chair-side with one of our skilled general dentists as we deliver the best care possible for our patients. Location and hours:
These positions are located at the NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center at 1313 Penn Avenue North, Minneapolis, Minnesota with rotating hours working at 800 West Broadway Avenue, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55411. Clinic hours are Monday and Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. and rotating Saturdays 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Work hours will vary.

These positions are limited-duration (temporary), benefit-earning positions that can last up to 24 months.

Candidates with fluency in Hmong and/or Spanish are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may be eligible for up to $47.50 of additional pay per pay period.

Starting September 1, 2021, all new job offers are conditional based on the candidate being fully vaccinated for COVID-19. “Fully vaccinated” means 14 days after receiving the second dose in a two-dose vaccination series approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on a full or emergency-use basis, or 14 days after receiving a single-dose vaccine approved by the FDA on a full or emergency-use basis. After a conditional job offer is made, the candidate must show proof of full vaccination prior to their start date. A COVID-19 vaccination card from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a vaccination record from your doctor’s office, or a personal digital vaccination record constitutes sufficient “proof.” The candidate must also attest they are vaccinated by completing a form on the first day of employment. Reasonable accommodations to this vaccination requirement will be considered upon request by a candidate for medical or religious reasons as required by applicable law.

In these positions, you will:

  • Provide and perform operatory and chairside assistance for all procedures allowed by Minnesota Statute for Licensed Dental Assistants.
  • Demonstrate good customer service and communication skills to provide excellent patient care.
  • Demonstrate competency in electronic dental records and other computer systems.
  • Maintain dental department areas in compliance with dental department directives and protocols as well as clinic policies and procedures relative to infection control, exposure control, and safety issues.
  • Perform appointment scheduling, charting, and equipment maintenance.

Need to have:

  • Completion of an accredited program as a Dental Assistant.
  • Possession of a valid license or eligible for licensure as a Dental Assistant by the Minnesota Board of Dentistry.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Nice to have:    
  • Knowledge of:
    • Clinic practices that ensure the safety of all patients (includes Pediatric, Teen, Adult, and Geriatric patients).
    • Dentrix to quickly and efficiently enter and retrieve EDR patient data.
    • Age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service.
  • Ability to:
    • Effectively and efficiently communicate with department staff, health care center staff, patients, interpreters, and the community while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
    • Prepare, clean, and proper handling of dental equipment and instruments.
    • Follow proper Infection Control & Health & Safety procedures.
    • Follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) security and privacy compliance.
    • Demonstrate respect and appreciation for the diversity of co-workers and clients regardless of race, age, gender, disability, values, lifestyle perspectives, or interests.
    •  Adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
    •  Understand oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to speak Spanish or Hmong.
